Fisheye Placebo is back after a 3 year hiatus! You can read the newest chapter here. In the past, I had hurt my hand with Repetitive Strain Injury caused by overworking. Now the pain limits how much I can draw each day.
But I didn’t want to give up so I hired a team of amazing 3D artists to help me continue the comic. Now, instead of drawing things from scratch, I paint over the 3D characters and backgrounds they’ve created, which saves me a lot of time and hand pain.
I need your support to keep my team going. We are all artists who need to make a living, and you can help us keep creating comics by becoming a Patron on my Patreon. As Patrons you’ll get special previews of new comic chapters as well as HD files of the comics! And best of all you won’t have to wait another 3 years for the next chapter
Continuing where I left off
It's been years since my last Fisheye Placebo chapter since I had to go on hiatus due to chronic hand pain from over working. I had actually drawn out 2 panels of the new chapter back then before I had to stop. Now that I have a team of 3D artists to help me, I've been trying to match up the new 3D models with my old drawing styles. I realized there's just a bit too many difference between how I used to draw the characters from scratch vs how I now paint over 3D models. In the end I decided to scrap the 2 original pages and remake them with new perspectives as well.
Below is a comparison of the 2 original panels, and the newer 3D enhanced panels.
For the remake, I decided to introduce the new character, Allie, a bit differently than before. It's interesting to see my own changes in styles over the years as well. I feel like I've toned down a bit with the color saturation.
I'm excited to finally continue my comic again. Stay tuned! :D
Getting back into those cyberpunk colors
I started the webcomic Fisheye Placebo many years ago and had to stop due to hand pain. For the last few years I've been working with an amazing team of 3D artists to help me continue my comic by using 3D models as bases to quickly paint over. As we get closer to finishing preparing all the models needed for the comic, I've been excitedly testing them out. During my hiatus I did a few illustrations here and there, usually to do with nature and has some pastel colors. It's really nice to jump back into this dystopian cyberpunk world of neon lights and hidden secrets. Below are some of my test paint overs to get back into the flow of creating the Fisheye Placebo world.
The talented Sozo Maika modeled all the characters that I used to paint over. And Aversionofreality modeled all the clothes, rigged the characters, taught me how to use Blender and countless other things. With the current ease of drawing these characters, I can't believe how I got by drawing all the previous chapters by hand.... and no wonder my hand became damaged from over working back then.... but no more! 2018 will be a new beginning :)
