My SO and I took some photos of the milkyway this Wednesday at Shark Fin Cove in California. It was amazingly beautiful under the stars and gazing up at the vast expanse. Some people on the beach had a bonfire which cast a shadow of us onto the shark fin rock.
Camera: Sony a600
Lens: 8mm/f2.8, 35mm/f1.8
Exposure: 30 Seconds

My SO and I went to China to visit my grandparents and stopped by Hong Kong on the way back. It was all too short a few days to fully explore this urban jungle. We look forward to returning one day.

Above the lights and beneath the stars
Between two cities, near and far
Here we stand, hand in hand
The universe within our grasp

My SO and I had an amazing evening doing astrophotography at the Lick Observatory at Mount Hamilton this summer night.

It was freezing cold at Lake Tahoe over Valentine's weekend. My boyfriend and I tried to stay warm under the stars by doing squats.
There's no Milkyway at this time of the year, but the stars were still spectacular :D
By the end of the shoot, my fingers were red and shriveled up, but it was totally worth it. Certain photos required trespassing onto private property... also worth it....

Photos of Tokyo's glimmering night taken from Mori Tower in Roppongi. A city that never sleeps has replaced the stars.
Special thanks to my Google friend for the access and tour :3

Drone photos of the evening fog rolling into Marin city.
My SO’s family came to visit from Sweden and we took a trip to the breathtaking Point Reyes. The fog hung so low that day it felt like we could touch it.

Milky Way over the Point Reyes lighthouse. Ships in the night gave off a warm glow through the cool ocean fog. Dazzling stars guided their way through this magical world.
It was cloudy and foggy during the day but luckily everything cleared up by sunset and we were able to capture these super clear shots of the stars :D

This ghostly cloud glided over the alpine forest of Lake Tahoe's high altitude mountains. It looks almost like a tornado, but my best guess is it's a lenticular cloud in the making. Too bad it faded away before it could form completely.

Camera: Sony Alpha 6000, 35 mm lens

Sunset on our drive up to Mt Tamalpais, plus a bonus shot of twilight on top of the mountain right before the park ranger kicked us out. We had hoped to do some astrophotography from up there but the gates were locked and we couldn’t sneak back in.

We ended a day of hiking at Muirwoods with some night time photoshoot of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge of San Francisco.
February, 2017
Bird's eye view of the spectacular Land's End in San Francisco, shot during sunset with my boyfriend (who piloted the DJI Mavic Drone).
June, 2016
Moonlight reflecting on shallow tides.
We waited at Martin's Beach for the moon to set so that its bright light would not wash out the stars of the milky way.
Plus a bonus shot of it during the day :)

The wondrous Fushimi Inari shrines features these endless Torii gates that seems to go on forever.
Some of these photos were taken at night when there are less tourists. The well lit path created beautiful shadows :)

Sunset at Point Reyes Shipwreck. It was an amazing day of hiking with my friends, and ending with the clearest milky way I've ever seen :D More photos of the stars to be posted soon!

We hiked from Stinson beach into the vast giants of the Muir Woods. My SO can be seen hiding inside the hollow of this enormous redwood.

Finally got a successful shot of the Milky Way at Martin's Beach last night. There was too much fog last weekend but luckily the weather cleared up this time.
There was a surprising number of other astrophotographers at the beach. I guess it's a good spot and a good time so all like minded people were drawn to it.
Special thanks to my dear friends who joined me and made this trip possible and much more fun <3

This aerial view of the magnificent wetlands of Florida's was taken by a DJI Mavic drone. My boyfriend flew our drone to over 700 ft to capture this panorama of meandering rivers. I then stitched the photos together in Lightroom to create this expansive view.
This is one of our first few tests of the drone, more photos and videos to come in the future :D

The remnants of the Sutro Baths of San Francisco. Built 1896, it quickly fell to ruins from a fire in 1966. Today it's still a beautiful sight, perhaps made more beautiful with time.
My boyfriend and I came during sunset and took photos on our DJI Mavic drone. It was freezing cold in the strong wind, but well worth every shiver :)

The first photo shows a solar glory, an optical phenomenon similar to rainbows. It was taken on my flight to visit my dog for the last time, who has been my best friend for 17 years. She she lived a long life but it was still unbearably painful to say goodbye. We have been through so much together while growing up.
Without her, I don't know who would have comforted me when my family was at its most dysfunctional and abusive. I don't know if I could have made it till today without her unconditional love.
A sunset greeted me on the flight back as I held back the tears.
Farewell, goodbye, my best friend.

Aerial view of the mangrove covered Key Largo where fresh water meets salt water in this uniquely vibrant ecosystem. Only from this height can you see the giant shadows cast by the clouds; a reminder of how small we truly are in this vast and beautiful world.

These photos were taken in Shiratani Unsuikyo, a beautiful forest of ancient cedar trees and moss. This place served as the inspiration for Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke, my all time favorite film. It was such a magical experience to be surrounded by so much lush green life. Truly, what a beautiful world we live in.

An abandoned fishing shack by the shores of Mutsu Bay. My boyfriend and I found many abandoned shacks but this one was the coolest. Some areas were still in use and filled with blue fishing lines.

Drone panorama of the magnificent Swiss alps and bonus shot of Zurich :)
My boyfried went skiing there and took the opportunity to shoot some nice photos. One day, I'll visit too, but for now I'm too busy with work.
